Peace keeping mission in Sudan. United Nations uses Satellite based Wide Area Network using TDM/TDMA, SCPC Links for Communications. UN creates there Own Network for Data, Voice, and Video Communication for Peace Keeping.
Responsibilities / Experience / Projects Executed:
v Complete monitoring of the entire network through the spectrum analyzer and MRTG/WHATSUP GOLD to monitor interference, cross pole, Bandwidth Utilization etc.
v To set up and monitor the RF link between Khartoum and Brindisi for Video Conferencing.
v Bandwidth Management and allocation of frequencies for optimum utilization of the frequency band allotted.
v To troubleshoot & maintain the TCP/IP network which comprises of routers, switches hubs & servers.
v Maintain Internet link connectivity & its distribution to UN Team Sites.
v Design & Implementation of Voice & Data VSAT Network. Handling Entire VSAT Network in UNMIS, Uplink & Downlink Traffic from 7.2Mtr antenna to 3.7mtr antenna.
v Installation and Maintenance of 3.7 Mr. Antennas include complete troubleshooting, maintenance & measurement at different stages also observing the improvement on the network performance.
v Liaise with assets management the operation the inventory system: minimum sparing levels: receiving and inspection of goods, disposal of equipment
v Program, test and pre-commission new equipment in the workshops prior to deployment.
v Install, commission, maintain and repair the following: C band and Ku band satellite systems including DAMA applications; wide and narrow band digital microwave systems; video conferencing equipment; plus Inmarsat and Satellite World phone terminals.
v Liaise with Headquarters and Logistic Base staff regarding initial installations; routine Satcom maintenance and repairs; system testing; circuit line up; implementation of remedial action required.
v Perform Intelsat commissioning and verification tests required for all new satellite installations.
v Implement Satcom upgrades; frequency/transponder related changes; relocation of existing sites; modification; interfacing of multiplex, concentrators and video conference applications.
v Ability to troubleshoot and find out error points in RF equipments and VSAT equipments.Familiar and comfortable with RF measuring equipments in GHz range.
v Good exposure and ability to handle measuring instruments like Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, Network Analyzer etc.
